Millikin Men’s Basketball Falls to Coe | Millikin University Athletic Department
The Millikin men's basketball team dropped a non-conference contest to Coe College 65-56 on December 20 at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Illinois.
The game was tight throughout with eight lead changes and six ties. Millikin led by as many as eight points in the first half and took a 32-29 advantage at halftime. Coe outscored the Big Blue by 12 in the second half and had its largest lead of 10 points with 3:13 left in the game.
Millikin struggled from the field making on 37 percent (22-59) and made 6-22 from three-point range. Coe shot 48 percent (25-52) from the field and controlled the paint outscoring Millikin 42-26. The Kohawks out rebounded Millikin 37-29.
Cole Laurence led Millikin with 10 points and nine rebounds. Demarcus Bond, Noah Livingston and Chase Travis each added nine points.
TJ Schnurr led Coe with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Cael Schmitt scored 18 points.
Millikin falls to 7-5 while Coe improves to 6-5. The Big Blue will take a few days off for Christmas and return to action on New Year's Eve at 3 p.m. in the Griswold Center hosting Spalding University.
