Discussions:

● Closed Friday, 4/7 (Good Friday)

● Plant Swap this weekend (3/31 and 4/1)

● Michelle asked to be part of Dementia Friendly Moultrie County; we would be the first county in Illinois to meet this (several cities are). Essentially, this is to create a better place for all when working with people who have dementia (trainings, etc). Library would be a hub that would promote education in this area. Board training will likely be offered.

● Reader’s Bridge is at $4,725 currently (area, not solely our library); Effingham Rotary is anticipating a $2000 donation in the near future. Most funds are used by Mattoon, Charleston, Effingham, and us.

● National LIbrary Week is April 23-29; we’ll do some various raffles-one prize is Cardinals Tickets for June 12

● Illinois Libraries Present April 4-Danny Trejo and April 25-Will Shortz

● Matter of Balance Classes are starting up again.

● Home School class will wrap up April 20; will end with a trip to the park to do some outdoor activities.

● LLC 8th Grade Job/Career Fair is 3/30; Laura and Michelle will go to help with this.

-Discuss/ Vote on Roofing Bids: Bids have not been returned at this time for us to discuss and vote on. We will meet when bids begin coming in.

-Discussion on HB 2789, which has been passed: In order to receive state grant money, the library is not allowed to ban any books. However, a policy must be in place that says such.

IHLS lawyers are reading the bill and giving interpretation/guidance on it. The bill also necessitates a reconsideration policy in place. Our current Collection Management Policy seems to cover what is included in the bill.
