Village of Lovington Board of Trustees met June 5

Village of Lovington Board of Trustees met June 5.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Call to order: President Roger Walker called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

Pledge of Allegiance: Walker led the pledge of Allegiance.

Roll Call found the following trustees to be present: Dennis Garmon, Todd Hale, Keith Stanberry,

Mike Young, Brittany Bates and April Daily. President Roger Walker and Clerk Alma Fair were also present.

Guests: Jeremy Doggett – GFL rep. Eric Shangraw

Old Business

Discussion and Action on garbage services

GFL rep ask some questions regarding the bid from WM – WM and GFL will be invited to attend next week’s meeting.

Closed Session

Meeting of “The Mayor & Commissioners of a municipality organized under article 4 of the Municipal Code held to discuss matters, which relate solely to exercise their executive or administrative responsibilities.”

5 ILCS 120/2 Sec.2 (c) (1) The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of Specific employees

A Motion was made by Garmon seconded by Young to go into closed session for the purpose of the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of Specific employees at 6:11 pm

YEA: Young, Hale, Bates, Stanberry, Daily, Garmon

No: None

MOTION CARRIED

Return to Open Session

A Motion was made by Garmon seconded by Young to return from closed session at 7:07 PM

YEA: Hale, Bates, Stanberry, Daily, Garmon, Young

No: None

MOTION CARRIED

No action was taken from closed session.

Garmon left at 7:11 PM

Parks and Special Projects

Gillis and workers have been putting a merry-go-round we got from the Grade School at the park.

Parade entries have been coming in.

Police

Streets and Alleys

The tree on Logan Street needs to be taken down. The stump grinder will be used tomorrow at the park. On the corner of Church and Washington - need to mow the grass where planted flowers in the boulevard. Daily did called Stephany Eccles about painting the fire hydrant. We need to put on the agenda about the fire hydrant flow testing for next week. ISO called Doggett a few years ago and needed 2 hydrants tested. The fire department says it is up to the Village to do the testing and the Village thinks it is the Fire department’s job.

The insurance packet came today so he will get with Daily and go over it.

Presidents Report

Put garbage discussion on the agenda for next meeting and have both GFL and WM here for discussion.
