State Sen. Chapin Rose of the Illinois General Assembly issued a public plea to Governor J.B. Pritzker on Nov 1st, encouraging him to shift his focus from nationwide matters to those affecting their home state.
"We’re here today to THINK Illinois. As you know, over the last several weeks, the governor has been out gallivanting across the country talking about Think Big America, but here in Illinois, our constituents are hurting," said Rose. He added that with numerous problems plaguing the state such as dysfunction and mismanagement under Pritzker's administration, he should be joining them in finding solutions instead of "running all over the country". Rose emphasized on Gov. Pritzker's need to return back and pay attention to those they represent - "the taxpaying citizens of our great state".
Chapin Rose is no stranger to local politics or representation. Representing the 51st District in Illinois Senate since 2013, he was previously a member of the House of Representatives between 2003 and 2012. Currently holding influential positions within multiple Senate committees like Appropriations, Insurance, Judiciary, Transportation and Privacy committees.
On a more national scale, Gov. J.B Pritzker launched his non-profit organization - Think Big America - last month which spins off his campaign theme from his gubernatorial run in 2018 named 'Think Big'.
The new organization focuses mainly on promoting ballot measures that preserve abortion rights. The board boasts influential figures like businessperson Desirée Rogers along with Margaret Croke who serves as an Illinois State Representative and Chicago Alderman Michelle Harris.
