Regan Deering, a Republican candidate seeking to represent the 88th House District in Illinois, is emphasizing the importance of common-sense government and legislation that improves the lives of citizens.

“So much to be thankful for today and every day,” Deering said on Facebook.

“These people right here are my why. As a candidate for State Rep. I am committed to working for the people of Illinois. Traveling the 88th makes for long days away from home, but it is worth it.”

“Citizens are desperate for common sense government and legislation that makes their life better. Illinois is our home, and I will do all I can to foster a place where you and your family can live your values and pursue your dreams.”

Deering, a former small business owner and staunch advocate for conservative values is running with a focus on lower taxes and comprehensive government reform; she aims to foster prosperity for all residents of Illinois. Rooted in her personal story as an adopted child, Deering passionately advocates for the sanctity of life, a stance that resonates strongly with conservative voters. Her extensive community service, including leadership roles with the Decatur Public School Foundation and a new community food bank reflects her commitment to making a positive impact beyond the political arena.

A proud alumna of Duke University with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology, Deering further solidified her commitment to education by earning a Master of Education from DePaul University. Alongside her husband Brian and their three children, Deering is a longtime resident of the area, fully immersed in the local community according to her website.

Aside from being an active community member, she also has previous experience in politics. Deering, a former congressional candidate and current Mount Zion school board member, announced her bid for the Illinois statehouse in the 88th House District in June, according to Macon Reporter.

Deering's candidacy comes as a result of an opening in the position she hopes to fill. She is seeking to succeed state Rep. Dan Caulkins, who has decided not to run for re-election. House District 88, which Deering hopes to represent, encompasses McLean, Macon, Piatt, and DeWitt counties according to Ballotpedia.
