Moultrie County residents rank 57th in total sales taxes paid in Illinois for September

Moultrie County taxpayers ranked 57th in total sales taxes paid per county in September, according to Illinois tax records.

In total, Moultrie County residents paid $280,302 in sales taxes during September.

Moultrie County ranked 56th in the Prairie State the month before, with $262,235 spent in sales taxes.

The County Sales Tax accounted for the largest share of sales taxes paid by Moultrie County residents in September.

Illinois is currently the highest taxed state in the US. A study from Wallet Hub found Illinois taxes are 39.83% higher than the national average.
