Moultrie County ranks 61st in total sales taxes paid in Illinois during January

Moultrie County taxpayers ranked 61st in total sales taxes paid per county in January, according to Illinois tax records.

In total, Moultrie County residents paid $242,160 in sales taxes during January.

Moultrie County ranked 59th in the Prairie State the month before, with $251,707 spent in sales taxes.

The County Sales Tax accounted for the largest share of sales taxes paid by Moultrie County residents in January.

As of 2021, Illinois was the highest taxed state in the US. A study from Wallet Hub found Illinois taxes were 39.83% higher than the national average.
