City of Sullivan City Council met March 26.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

1. Call to Order

2. Roll Call

- City Employees in Attendance: Michelle Nolen (Library Director)

3. Review / Approve minutes of previous board meetings

6. Librarian’s Report

- Laura and Michelle are going to the Sullivan Elementary School for Eclipse Programming April 2nd-April 5th

(It was originally reported that they were going April 4th and 5th. More dates were added)

There were 102 participants in this years Puzzle Swap and 22 in the Puzzle Contest

On Sunday March 24th Laura attended the MoCo Moms groups open house and handed out information to 105 attendees

The library will be closed 3/29 for Good Friday

Laura and Michelle will be attending the Lake Land college 8th grade career conference on 4/11 and 4/12.

The library will be closed 4/19 so staff can attend the Reaching Forward South Conference in Collinsville

National Library Week is 4/7-4/20 fines will be waived and a prize drawing will be held for library patrons

The last homeschool class will be 4/19

Michelle presented a formal dress code policy for the staff which aligns with the city’s handbook dress code. There was discussion about the possibility of making the dress code a board approved policy

The library is handing out eclipse glasses for patrons to use on 4/8

IHLS is going to an automated book handling system that will require barcodes on books to be moved to an outside location. The system will be providing a barcode duplicating machine and labels to ease the burden to individual libraries. Staff have started moving the barcodes to the back cover for new items.

The library is in the process of getting a new phone to replace one that died in November. The service provider is supplying the new phone.
