HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital is set to hold the Share Holiday Memorial Service on Friday, December 6 at 6 p.m. The event will take place in St. Mary’s Chapel and aims to honor babies lost during pregnancy, at birth, or in early infancy.

Karla Marshall, Supervisor of Mission Integration and Spiritual Care at St. Mary’s Hospital, explained the significance of the service: “The holidays can be a difficult time for families who have experienced a loss. This service provides a compassionate space for families to honor their babies and find solace among others who understand their grief. It serves as a reminder that no one has to grieve alone.”

During the memorial, families have the opportunity to share readings, photographs, reflections or bring ornaments to place on the Share holiday tree in memory of their child. The service will conclude with a procession to the Share Garden where participants will place a white flower at the feet of the Angel of Hope statue.

Share is a support group that offers comfort to families dealing with the loss of a baby or infant.
