A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Meridian Community Unit School District 15 regarding copies of all emails and memos from the past year containing specific keywords. The request was made on January 28, 2025.
The inquiry specifically requested any documents containing the phrases "Lucy Calkins" and "Units of Study". As representatives from Macon Reporter, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we believe that access to these public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
In light of our role in disseminating information, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional. We await the response from the school district regarding this matter.
