Long Creek FPD responds to 21 fires in 2016

Long Creek Fire Protection District responded to 53 calls in 2016, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System obtained by the Macon Reporter.

The calls in Long Creek included 21 fires - 17 structure fires and four other fires.

In all, the department saw $247,350 in fire loss - or about $11,779 per fire.

The department also received 32 false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related injury. Additionally, one fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents.

The Long Creek FPD Firefighters' Pension Fund, which has two active employees and one retired or inactive employee, was $4,590 in debt as of April 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $219 for every fire in 2016.
