Rep. John Cabello (R-Rockford) dedicated a portion of Interstate 74 in his district to a fallen law enforcement officer.
“Trooper (Ryan) Albin was from Bellflower and he died on June 8, 2017 due to a vehicle accident while on duty,” Cabello said at a House floor debate of HJR93, which designates I-74 from Mile Post 155 to 160 near Farmer City as the Trooper Ryan Albin Memorial Highway.
Cabello said Albin loved growing up on a farm in Bellflower. As a graduate of Blue Ridge High School, he later earned a degree from Eureka College and was accepted into the Illinois State Police Academy Class 111 in 2006, Cabello added.

After serving more than 11 years, he was named the 2015 District 6 Officer of the Year, Cabello said, adding Albin leaves behind two children, Stella Grace and Charlie Robert, and his parents and two sisters.
Cabello read a few words about Albin from his commanding officer. “He had a booming laugh and everyone knew he was in the room,” Cabello said before asking for a moment of silence.
HRJ93 passed unanimously at 111-0.
