Meridian Community Unit School District 15 Board met Oct. 15.

Here is the agenda provided by the board:

The Meridian Community Unit School District. No. 15 held a regularly scheduled Board of Education meeting on Monday, October 15, 2018. Tony Etherton called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Upon roll call the following members were present: Tony Etherton, Adam Herbert, Matt Roush and Chris Jones. Members Vicki Carr, Marie Jagger-Taylor and Monte Hogan were absent. Also present were: Dan Brue, Superintendent; Lori Guebert, Elementary Principal; Andy Pygott, Middle School Principal; and Regina Ward, Recording Secretary.

Mrs. Guebert announced the Elementary Students of the Month: 

1st: Ella Hilton, William Flemming, Zada Dudley

2nd: Addison Marion, Rosarita Rambo, Logan Lott

3rd: Zander Thomas, Jacob Peck, Eleanor Moyer

4th: Charlotte Pritts, Jonas Henderson, Taylor Kraft, Peyton Stolte 5th: Braden Bach, Katelyn Smith, Hailey Coffman, Nora Roush

Mr. Hurelbrink’s Students of the Month are: Mary Adams, Emery Johnson, Keagan Kantor, Crystal Sheumaker, Trey Bourisaw, Madison Sapp, Jesse Damery, Jeremiah Renfro, Gabe Thompson, Erica Corzine, Lizzie Snow, Lucy Snow, Virginia Sheumaker, Jade Kallenbach, Karrigan True, Nick Smith, Maria Steiling, Devin Walker, Dylan Baker, Robbie Shuemaker, Robert Lecates, Hailey Thompson, and Zoey Hayes.

Administrators gave their reports. Each school is getting ready for parent-teacher conferences. Mr. Brue stated the PARCC scores have increased. Each school made commendable recognition.

Mr. Brue reviewed the budget analysis. On a motion by Member Roush, seconded by Member Herbert, the consent agenda was approved which consists of the September 17, 2018 minutes, September financial reports and October disbursements which are:

Education $331,779.63

Building $46,830.18

Transportation $185,206.17

Tort $11,890.81

Fire Prevention $2,288.96

For a total of $557,995.75. This only includes one payroll for October. Motion approved on 4 ayes.

Mr. Brue gave the Board the Annual Financial Report for Fiscal Year 2018. The Board will look it over and will discuss it next month if they have questions.

On a motion by Member Herbert, seconded by Member Roush, the Board approved a facilities request from the Meridian Youth Basketball and the Alumni Group. The Alumni Group is pending receiving an insurance certificate in the District Office. Motion carried on a roll call vote of 4 ayes.

There was discussion regarding the Ag program for next year and the interview process for the teacher.

On a motion by Member Herbert, seconded by Member Roush, the Board meeting adjourned at 7:08 p.m. Motion carried on a roll call vote of 4 ayes.

The next regularly scheduled Board of Education meeting will be November 19, 2018 at 6:30 p.m.
