AUSTIN TOWNSHIP HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT: Algonquin Township Specialized Recycling Event!!

Austin Township Highway Department recently issued the following announcement.

PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN ENTERING THE TOWNSHIP FOR SPECIALIZED RECYCLING.

Accepted items:

Air Conditioners (Window Unit Only)

Answering Machines

Computers, Computer Components & Laptops

Camcorders

Cameras

Car Batteries (township residents ONLY)

Cell Phones, telephones & phone systems

Small dehumidifiers & humidifiers

Digital Recorders & Converter Boxes

Fax Machines

Microwaves

MP3 Players & Music Players

Paint (Fee)

Power Tools

Small Home Appliances (blenders, fans, toasters, vacuums, etc.)

Stereos

TV & Computer Monitor (One per family per month - township residents ONLY)

Typewriters

Video Game Controllers & Consoles

Used Oil (township residents ONLY)

Not Accepted:

No Refrigerators

No Freezers

No Hazardous Waste (thermostats, thermometers, smoke detectors carbon monoxide detectors, chemical liquids, gases)

No Fluorescent tubes, compact fluorescent tubes, or light bulbs

No Household Batteries

Tires Recycling Fee:

Vehicle Tires – $3

Truck Tires – $5

Semi/Tractor – $6

Paint Recycling Fee (E-Paint, a third party):

$3/Gallon – Latex

$5/Quart – $9/Gallon – Oil Based, Stain, or Varnish

NEVER ACCEPTED:

Mattresses

Propane Tanks

Household Batteries (AA, AAA, C, D, etc.)

Lightbulbs

CFL or Tubes

Household Appliances

Freezers, Refrigerators, Washers or Dryers, etc.

Hazardous Household Items

Heavy Duty Cleaners, Drain Cleaner, Pesticides, etc.

Treated Lumber, 2x4s, or any kind of construction or demolition debris
