City of Clinton City Council met Jan. 6.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

Minutes of the regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Clinton, Illinois in session in the Council Chambers of City Hall, Monday, January 6, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. Mayor Roger Cyrulik, presiding. On roll call, Commissioners Buchanan and Wise were present. Commissioners Ballenger and Edmunds were absent.

Written motion was made by Commissioner Wise and seconded by Commissioner Buchanan that the minutes of the regular meeting of December 16, 2019 be approved as submitted. On roll call vote, Commissioners Buchanan, Wise and Mayor Cyrulik voted “Yes”.

The bills and payroll were read.

Written motion was made by Commissioner Buchanan and seconded by Commissioner Wise that the bills and payroll be allowed as read and the Clerk be instructed to issue warrants on the Treasurer for the several amounts. On roll call vote, Commissioners Wise, Buchanan and Mayor Cyrulik voted “Yes”.

PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS

None

REPORT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS

Mayor Cyrulik had no report.

REPORT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF STREETS & PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS

Commissioner Buchanan reported the department is picking up leaves if they are in biodegradable bags and giving notices if they have piles on the curb. He also stated the department will be picking up Christmas trees if they are on the curb.

REPORT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC PROPERTY

Commissioner Wise reported everything is running smoothly at the Water Plant.

REPORT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH & SAFETY

Commissioner Ballenger was absent.

Police Chief Lowers introduced Officer Anderson and told about his background and his promotion and the City Clerk swore in Thomas Anderson as Sergeant of the Police Dept.

REPORT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF ACCOUNTS & FINANCES

Commissioner Edmunds was absent.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Written motion was made by Mayor Cyrulik and seconded by Commissioner Wise to approve the Resurfacing of the Steps at the Fire Dept. from Sterling in the amount of $5,650.00. On roll call vote, Commissioners Buchanan, Wise and Mayor Cyrulik voted “Yes”.

NEW BUSINESS

None

Mayor Cyrulik announced the next Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 due to Martin Luther King Day.

ADJOURNMENT

With no further business to come before the Council, a motion was made by Commissioner Buchanan and seconded by Commissioner Wise to adjourn the meeting. On roll call vote, Commissioners Wise, Buchanan and Mayor Cyrulik voted “Yes”.
