Sangamon Valley Community Unit School District 9 Board of Education met Jan. 15.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

CALL TO ORDER

President Stephanie Guerrero called the special January meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. Board members present were: Stephanie Guerrero, Jeff Stahl, Martha Leeper, Glenda Weldy, Rodger Reed, and James Kent. Absent: Erech Pierson.

Erech Pierson entered the meeting at 5:31 p.m.

BOARD POLICY

Jeff Stahl moved and Erech Pierson seconded the motion to approve board policy updates: 2:20, 2:70, 2:70-E, 2:100, 2:105, 2:110, 2:200, 2:220, 2:220-E2&6, 2:260, 4:15, 4:30, 4:60, 4:80, 4:150, 4:190, 5:10, 7:190, and 7:270 as presented. Roll call vote: Ayes- Stephanie Guerrero, Jeff Stahl, Erech Pierson, Martha Leeper, Glenda Weldy, Rodger Reed, and James Kent. Motion carried.

ADJOURNMENT

Erech Pierson moved and Stephanie Guerrero seconded the motion that the meeting be adjourned at 6:14 p.m. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

REGULAR MEETING

CALL TO ORDER

President Stephanie Guerrero called the January meeting to order at 6:18 p.m. Board members present were: Stephanie Guerrero, Erech Pierson, Martha Leeper, Glenda Weldy, Rodger Reed, James Kent and Jeff Stahl.

ADMINISTRATION

Also present: Superintendent Bob Meadows, SVP Principal Bethany Wellbaum, SVIS/MS Principal Brian Britton, and SVHS Principal Jonathan Field.

PLEDGE TO THE FLAG

Mr. Meadows led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.

EXECUTIVE SESSION

Glenda Weldy moved and Rodger Reed seconded the motion to enter closed session at 6:19 p.m. for the reasons stated on the agenda. Roll call vote: Ayes- Rodger Reed, Erech Pierson, Martha Leeper, Glenda Weldy, Jeff Stahl, James Kent, and Stephanie Guerrero. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

CLOSED SESSION ADJOURNMENT

Jeff Stahl moved and James Kent seconded the motion to re-enter open session at 6:27 p.m. Roll call vote: Ayes- Rodger Reed, Erech Pierson, Martha Leeper, Glenda Weldy, Jeff Stahl, James Kent, and Stephanie Guerrero. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

CLOSED SESSION MINUTES

Erech Pierson moved and Martha Leeper seconded the motion to accept the closed session minutes as read in closed session. Roll call vote: Ayes- Rodger Reed, Erech Pierson, Martha Leeper, Glenda Weldy, Jeff Stahl, James Kent, and Stephanie Guerrero. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

RESIGNATION

James Kent moved and Rodger Reed seconded the motion to accept the resignation of Pam Foutch as HS Business Teacher effective at the end of the 2019-2020 school year. Roll call vote: Ayes- Rodger Reed, Erech Pierson, Martha Leeper, Glenda Weldy, Jeff Stahl, James Kent, and Stephanie Guerrero. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

CONSENT AGENDA

Rodger Reed moved and Glenda Weldy seconded the motion to approve the consent agenda as presented. Roll call vote: Ayes- Rodger Reed, Erech Pierson, Martha Leeper, Glenda Weldy, Jeff Stahl, James Kent, and Stephanie Guerrero. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT

Mr. Meadows discussed with the Board the School Maintenance Project Grant.

Mr. Meadows congratulated the TCSV Girls Basketball team on their Championship win of the Macon County Tournament.

SCHOOL MAINTENANCE PROJECT GRANT

Erech Pierson moved and James Kent seconded the motion to authorize the School Maintenance Project Grant for the replacement of the Intermediate Building roof during the summer of 2020. Roll call vote: Ayes- Rodger Reed, Erech Pierson, Martha Leeper, Glenda Weldy, Jeff Stahl, James Kent, and Stephanie Guerrero. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

President Guerrero clarified that this motion gives approval for Mr. Meadows to pursue the School Maintenance Project Grant by completing the application process.

CLOSED SESSION MINUTES

Martha Leeper moved and Jeff Stahl seconded the motion to keep the closed session minutes from July 2019 through December 2019 closed. Roll call vote: Ayes- Rodger Reed, Erech Pierson, Martha Leeper, Glenda Weldy, Jeff Stahl, James Kent, and Stephanie Guerrero. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

MS PROMOTION

Erech Pierson moved and Rodger Reed seconded the motion to set MS Promotion for Friday, May 15, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

HS GRADUATION

James Kent moved and Jeff Stahl seconded the motion to set HS Graduation for Saturday, May 16, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

SV PTO

Erech Pierson moved and James Kent seconded the motion to allow the SV PTO to use the HS gym and cafeteria to host a Winter Wonderland Dance for Kindergarten through 5th grade and their families on February 1, 2020 from approximately 5:00-8:00 p.m. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

SV PTO

Glenda Weldy moved and James Kent seconded the motion to allow the SV PTO to use the HS cafeteria and library to host Family Fun Night on March 20, 2020 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

A special Board Meeting for Board Policy Updates is scheduled for February 19, 2020 at 5:30 p.m.

Next regular meeting is scheduled for February 19, 2020 at 6:00 p.m.
