Q2 2020 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in Macon County?

There were 109 offenders released on parole during the second quarter of 2020 that live in Macon County, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by Macon Reporter.

The data shows that 100 men and nine women were released in Macon County. Of the parolees, one is a veteran, and the median age is 38. The youngest parolee was a 19-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving one or more weapons in 2019, and the oldest was a 70-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving drugs in 2012.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Joseph Wharton. He was convicted of homicide in 2000 when he was 17 years old. He is now 38.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below gives a breakdown of how many offenders were paroled in the second quarter of 2020 in each Macon County municipality with at least one parolee in the quarter.
