Sangamon Valley Community Unit School District 9 Board of Education met Dec. 14.

Call to Order

President Stephanie Guerrero called the December meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Board members present were: Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood.

Administration

Also present: Superintendent Bob Meadows, SVP Principal Bethany Wellbaum, SVI Principal Kristina Sommer, SVMS Principal Jonathan Downing, and SVHS Principal Jonathan Field.

Pledge to the Flag

Ms. Wellbaum led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Executive Session

Josh Hilbert moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to enter closed session at 6:01 p.m. for the reasons stated on the agenda. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Matt Wood exited the meeting at 6:25 p.m.

Closed Session Adjournment

Jeff Stahl moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to re-enter open session at 6:31 p.m. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Closed Session Minutes

Lori Campbell moved and Josh Hilbert seconded the motion to accept the closed session minutes as read in closed session. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Termination

Josh Hilbert moved and Jeff Stahl seconded the motion to terminate Mariah Gilbert as MS Assistant Volleyball Coach effective immediately. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Resignation

Martha Leeper moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to accept the resignation of Jordan Tolly as a Physical Education Teacher effective December 16, 2022. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl.

Josh Hilbert moved and Jeff Stahl seconded the motion to accept the resignation of Riley Mendenhall as an At-Will Custodian effective November 17, 2022. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl.. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Martha Leeper moved and Lori Campbell seconded the motion to accept the resignation of Trescia Wiesner as an At-Will Custodian effective November 17, 2022. Employment

Jessica Browning moved and Jeff Stahl seconded the motion to employ Vanessa Templeton as the Middle School Assistant Volleyball Coach for the 2022-2023 school year. Employment

Jessica Browning moved and Josh Hilbert seconded the motion to employ Beth Stacey as a Volunteer Middle School Assistant Volleyball Coach for the 2022-2023 school year. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Employment

Josh Hilbert moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to employ Alan Myers as the Middle School Girls Track Coach for the 2022-2023 school year. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Employment

Martha Leeper moved and Lori Campbell seconded the motion to employ Chris Kimura as a 3-8 Physical Education Teacher for the remainder of the 2022-2023 school year pending provisional approval from ISBE. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Consent Agenda

Martha Leeper moved and Stephanie Guerrero seconded the motion to approve the consent agenda as presented. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Josh Hilbert moved and Jeff Stahl seconded the motion to approve the renewal of the middle school girls softball co-op with Tri-City as the host school for the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 school years. Jessica Browning moved and Lori Campbell seconded the motion to approve the purchase of HS Football Uniforms from BSN Sports for the amount of $20,635. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Farrell Flatt Tournament

Matt Wood moved and Josh Hilbert seconded the motion to approve the Sports Boosters’ request for use of the Illiopolis campus for the Annual Farrell Flatt Basketball Tournament on February 3-5, 2023. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

MS Chess Team

Martha Leeper moved and Lori Campbell seconded the motion to approve the MS Chess Team pilot for the 2022-2023 school year. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

There will be a Special Board meeting on January 11, 2023 at 5:30 P.M to discuss Press Policy Update #110.

The next Regular Meeting is scheduled for January 18, 2023 at 6:00 P.M.
