Sangamon Valley Community Unit School District 9 Board of Education met Jan. 17.

Here is the agenda provided by the board:

Vice President Jeff Stahl called the January meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.  Board members present were: Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood.  Absent: Stephanie Guerrero.

Administration

Also present: Superintendent Bob Meadows, SVP Hilda Rice, SVI Principal Kristina Sommer, SVMS Principal Jonathan Downing, and SVHS Principal Jonathan Field.

Pledge to the Flag

Mr. Downing led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Visitors

Jeff Stahl welcomed the visitors.  Visitors present were Keith Hildebrandt, Gretchen Cromwell, Kelly Rice, and Michelle Wilhour.

Keith Hildebrandt addressed the Board regarding facility usage for Youth Baseball/Softball.

Executive Session

Matt Wood moved and Josh Hilbert seconded the motion to enter closed session at 6:05 p.m. for the reasons stated on the agenda. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Closed Session Adjournment

Jessica Browning moved and Matt Wood seconded the motion to re-enter open session at 6:37 p.m. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Closed Session Minutes

Lori Campbell moved and Josh Hilbert seconded the motion to accept the closed session minutes as read in closed session. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl,  and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Employment

Matt Wood moved and Josh Hilbert seconded the motion to employ Nancy Dale as an at-will volunteer MS assistant track coach for the 2023-2024 school year. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl,  and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Lori Campbell moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to employ Nancy Dale as an at-will volunteer HS assistant track coach for the 2023-2024 school year. Josh Hilbert moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to employ Abby David as an at-will bus monitor for the 2023-2024 school year.  Roll call vote: Ayes-.Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl,  and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Consent Agenda

Martha Leeper moved and Matt Wood seconded the motion to approve the consent agenda as presented. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl,  and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Superintendent’s Report

Mr. Meadows discussed the Food Service Management Proposal.

Building Principals discussed the Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling program (LETRS)

Closed Session Minutes

Josh Hilbert moved and Martha Leeper seconded the motion to keep the closed session minutes from July 20223 through December 2023 closed. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl,  and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Facilities Use Agreement

Matt Wood moved and Lori Campbell seconded the motion to allow the Sports Boosters to use the HS Gym for the 2024 Farrell Flatt Tournament.  All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Facilities Use Agreement

Lori Campbell moved and Matt Wood seconded the motion to allow the SV Youth League to use the Old Gym, KPAC, and ball diamonds at Illiopolis and Harristown for softball and baseball for the 2024 season. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Facilities Use Agreement

Josh Hilbert moved and Martha Leeper seconded the motion to allow the Illiopolis Service Club to hold an indoor rummage sale and vender craft sale in the Illiopolis old gym on February 10, 2024. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

MS Promotion

Jessica Browning moved and Matt Wood seconded the motion to set MS Promotion for Friday, May 17, 2024 at 7:00 p.m.  All voted in favor. Motion carried.

HS Graduation

Lori Campbell moved and Martha Leeper seconded the motion to set HS Graduation for Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Food Service Management Contract

Josh Hilbert moved and Matt Wood seconded the motion to award the food service management contract for the 2024-2025 school year to Aramark Educational Services, LLC for the amount of $387,155.53. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl,  and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

The next Regular Meeting is scheduled for February 21, 2024 at 6 p.m. in the Boardroom.

Matt Wood moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion that the meeting be adjourned at 6:55 p.m.  All voted in favor. Motion carried.
