Maroa Public Library District Board met Jan. 15.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

1. Call to Order: Meeting called to order by trustee, Kim Wright, at 6:30pm.

2. Roll Call: Trustees, Mason Ricketts, Audra Newton, Lindsey Hanes, and Kim Wright were in attendance. Staff member, Sara Gentle, was also present. Trustees who were absent included Jason and Cindy Manint and Tony Norton.

3. Board President Remarks: No opening remarks.

4. Recognition of Visitors, Delegations, etc: No visitors present.

5. Public Comment Period: No public comments.

Consent Agenda

6. December 18, 2023 Meeting Minutes: Reviewed.

7. Director’s Report & February 2024 Calendar: Highlights from the month included

a. Approximately a third of the library’s sale books will be rehomed to a library in Golden, Illinois.

b. December physical checkouts were down however online resource use was up, significantly.

c. The calendar of events for February is again full of new programming, which includes the library’s first satellite video class on diabetes with the Macon County Health Department and an after school chess club.

d. Experimenting with a new adult book club, 1/17 at 6pm, where attendees bring the books their interested in to discuss and share.

e. Fourth conference table (out of six) had another weld joint break.

f. The library received an anonymous donation in December for $5K and a Marilyn Gentle Memorial matching gift of $2300. To date $4700 has been collected in Marilyn’s honor.

8. Accountant & Treasurer’s Reports for December 2023: Reports reviewed. The library is now within budget for all five accounts.

9. List of Paid Bills for December 2023: Reviewed.

15. Patron Confidentiality Policy Review: Policy reviewed. No changes recommended.

16. Trustee Compensation: Illinois legislation does not allow trustee compensation except for travel expenses.

17. Approval, Consent Agenda: Lindsey Hanes motioned to approve the consent agenda. Kim Wright seconded.

18. Approval, Closed Session (requires roll call vote with applicable statutory citations): No motions made.
