FOIA Request Sent to City Of Clinton Finance Department Regarding Sales Tax Collected from Retailers on October 25, 2024

FOIA Request to City Of Clinton Finance Department Regarding Sales Tax Collected from Retailers on October 25, 2024.

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Macon Reporter have requested records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140.

Our request is specific to sales tax collected from retailers since the start of the year until today's date. We have asked for this information in electronic format and have specified that it should include details such as the sales tax collected from retailers by month versus projected figures, the number of active retail locations paying sales tax by month, and the names of each retailer along with their gross retail sales reported for each month.

We believe that access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional.

We are eagerly awaiting a response from the City Of Clinton Finance Department and will keep our readers updated on any developments.
