Millikin University and HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital will collaborate to raise awareness for breast cancer during the Real Men Wear Pink football game. The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 18, at 6 p.m. at Frank M. Lindsay Field, where Millikin will play against Illinois Wesleyan University.

The game will feature several initiatives aimed at supporting those affected by breast cancer. Cancer survivors will receive free admission, and there will be on-site information about women’s health and breast cancer services provided by HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital. Survivors will also be recognized throughout the game.

Lori Kerans, Vice President for Athletics and Community Engagement at Millikin University, said, “Breast cancer awareness is personal to me, not just as a Millikin and community leader, but also as a two-time survivor. This partnership with St. Mary’s allows us to show support for those who have been impacted by this disease and to remind our community and especially those we love about the importance of early detection and conversations about health.”

The event will focus on breast cancer education, prevention, and support, while honoring survivors in the community.

Valerie Jordan, Manager of Oncology Services at St. Mary’s Hospital, stated, “We are proud to partner with Millikin University to not only honor survivors but to also educate women and families on the importance of screenings and available services. Events like this help bring our community together in hope, support, and action.”

Fans attending the game are encouraged to wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness. Accessible parking will be available at the north stadium entrance off Eldorado Street.

The 2025 Real Men Wear Pink campaign is a joint effort involving St. Mary’s Hospital, Millikin University, Maverik Marketing, and Central Illinois Multimedia Group.
