St. Mary's Hospital Board of Director issued the following announcement on Nov. 5.
Colleagues at HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital will be collecting coats, hats, gloves, sweaters and blankets throughout the month of November as part of the hospital’s “Giving Thanks” events and programs. Each department will collect these warm items and designated colleagues will pick-up and deliver these items to local shelters. The hospital has also partnered with Dove Inc. and WAND-TV to participate as a drop-off location for their 27th Annual Coats for Kids program.
“Our hospital is very excited to be an active part of this community giving,” said Karla Thornton, spiritual care minister at St. Mary’s Hospital. “We are very touched to share our warm clothing, as well as our warm hearts, with those most vulnerable in our community.”
Other programs throughout the month at St. Mary’s include “Thankful Thursdays” where colleagues are encouraged to give extra thanks to their co-workers, as well as their patients and their family members and “Pay it Forward Fridays” to embrace the power of giving.
